ATVEA’s feedback on the Public Consultation Machinery Directive

In the framework of the assessment of the relevance and the effectiveness of the Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery, the European Commission launched a Public Consultation on the 7th June which closed on 30th August 2019. ATVEA highlighted the sectors’ priorities in our submission, including this position paper.

Overall ATVEA stressed the requirements of the Machinery Directive must be adapted to allow for the possibility of digital documentation as well as the conversion of the Directive into a Regulation to avoid inconsistencies in implementation across EU Member States.

The Impact Assessment is expected to be completed by February 2020, following which the European Commission may bring forward a proposal to revise the Machinery Directive.
